This course will introduce children aged 7-11 years old to several different media, including tempera paint, pencil, coloured pencil, charcoal, pastels and clay.

The course will cover studies in proportion, tonal values, perspective and texture using a range of graphite pencils. Using acrylics, we will then explore light, colour, composition and other painting elements, and apply these techniques to canvas.

Intended as a continuation for those youth who have already attended a previous Introductory or similar course. New techniques and concepts will be introduced, and the course will explore the use of craft such as clay as well as further extending the use of traditional art forms

This course is intended for students who have completed at least one Intermediate Level course. The aim is to expand on artistic techniques through such projects as movie poster design, glass etching, block printing etc.

This 10 week Watercolour course is a continuation that will explore a range of special effects. Various techniques including lifting out,scraping back, masking and resists, texturing with sponging, spattering, salt, plastic wrap will be explored. Learn how to paint atmospheric skies, create landscape paintings with simple figures, still life and flower studies.

In this 10-week course the instructor will guide you in the use of acrylic paint, mediums and accessories and will explore with you how acrylic paint can be combined with other materials (paper, textiles etc) to create exciting and imaginative works of art. Mixed media is a very open form so come and join us a s a newcomer or return to meet old friends.

We will explore how the pencils can be used in conjunction with other mediums as well as in a more traditional watercolour style. We will cover material selection, basic colour theory, picture composition and a full range of techniques to enable you to paint/sketch, even with a limited selection of pencils. A great medium for "on the go" artists!

Fridays 10am – 12, Jan 20 – Feb 10

This 6-week course (no class Family Day, Feb 20) will introduce you to the stunning results achievable with the use of charcoal. Whether you are a beginner in drawing or are experienced in other mediums, come along and enjoy the fun!
